Furniture in India

India belongs to the continent of Asia. It is a place where people of different nationalities and religions are residing. From the time of independence of India as a nation, the people living there have adopted quite a different style of living. In true sense, the people, rather the nationals of India are living a life style that is much towards fantasy and far away from reality. The people prefer living a life style that is full of luxury and comfort. Nevertheless, it is a known fact that India is one of the countries that has taken a longer duration and is still under developed. The reasons that are most common for this issue constitute that the nationals of India are living in the world of infatuation, that is quite far-off the real world. Hence the life style of Indians is influenced by these thoughts and beliefs.

Just according to the thoughts and beliefs, the Indian nation has always preferred a life style that fits exactly in to their perception of life. When talking about the hose hold items which also constitute furniture and other equipments at home and offices, the Indians love to accommodate furniture that is much expensive, has a lavish and fashion able look, has extensive designing and ornamentation, and provides a look of sumptuousness and luxury. Hence the choice of furniture made is not wooden most of the time, instead it is metallic, made of glass, or covered with expensive fabric, whether or not it is durable and reliable in real sense.

The wooden furniture used in India has a mixing of glass and other materials with it as well. For instance, the cupboards and cabinets usually have glass windows and glass shelves. The furniture made of metal is also very common among the people of India. Beds and dressers made of metal sometimes designed as antique pieces and other times designed in modern styles. However, the metallic furniture items are heavy and not easily moveable. Also such furniture items are in need of special care and attention for handling them. Furniture style preferred in India requires much designed and styled structures, with bright and funky colors. The polish color of wooden furniture is usually desired to be light in shade, instead of darker shades.

The style of furniture trend prevailing in the Indian societies’ is enormous and is preferred with a much heavy look. Therefore, whatever material is used in the furniture, the make of furniture is such that it provides massive look and appears to cover a lot of space in the room. On the other hand, light weight, lightly designed, and dull colored furniture items are not preferred.
